General Statement:

The Distance Learning Facilitator is responsible for supporting and enhancing the online learning experience for students. This role involves coordinating, facilitating, and assisting in the delivery of remote education programs. The facilitator ensures that students have access to the resources, guidance, and support needed to succeed in a virtual or hybrid learning environment. They act as a liaison between students, instructors, and educational administrators, fostering an environment conducive to independent and collaborative learning.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Course Management:
    • Assist in the general function of online courses and learning management systems (LMS), such as Apex, Blackboard, Moodle, or Canvas.
    • Monitor and track student progress, ensuring all course materials and resources are accessible and up to date.
    • Coordinate and communicate course schedules, deadlines, and assignments to students.
  2. Student Support and Engagement:
    • Provide technical support for students navigating online learning platforms, troubleshooting issues, and resolving access problems.
    • Offer personalized guidance and academic support to students, responding to inquiries and concerns via email, chat, or virtual office hours.
    • Motivate and encourage students to stay on track with their learning goals, providing proactive communication about course expectations and deadlines.
  3. Collaboration with Instructors:
    • Work closely with instructors to ensure smooth delivery of course content in a distance learning environment.
    • Communicate with instructors when necessary.
  4. Technology Integration and Training:
    • Train students and faculty on using distance learning platforms, communication tools, and educational technologies.
    • Stay current with emerging e-learning technologies and best practices to enhance the virtual classroom experience.
    • Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to course delivery, video conferencing tools, and other online resources.
  5. Administrative Support:
    • Maintain accurate records of student participation, assessments, and overall performance.
    • Prepare reports and documentation related to student progress and course outcomes.
    • Assist in the development of policies, guidelines, and procedures for the online learning environment.
